LEVEL 1 SOUND MODULE
OUTWARD TONGUE BASS
The “outward tongue bass” is a beatbox sound characterised by creating a deep, resonant bass tone using the tongue and pushing the airflow outward. This technique produces a low-frequency, reverberating “bass” sound, adding a powerful and rhythmic foundation to beatbox performances. Beatboxers use the outward tongue bass to create a strong, impactful bassline and contribute to the overall depth and groove of their beatboxing rhythms.
Outward Tongue Bass (B-r)
– Purr an ‘r’ like a cat by placing the bottom of your tongue lightly on the
roof of your mouth
– Remove the vocalisation so you only have the rolling of the ‘r’
– Make your mouth as stiff and closed as possible and create a very tight
airflow
– Move your mouth into different shapes to change the pitch – e.g. ‘ee’
and ‘oo
