LEVEL 1 TRIAL MODULE
HI-HAT
The beatbox sound “hihat” is an essential percussive vocal or mouth sound used by beatboxers to replicate the sharp and crisp sound of a closed hi-hat cymbal in a drum kit. It is created by making a “tss” or “ch” sound, similar to the actual sound of a hi-hat cymbal when the two cymbals are brought together. Hihat sounds are often incorporated into beatboxing to add rhythmic and textural complexity, contributing to the overall groove and dynamic of a beatbox performance.
Hi Hat (t)
– The basic hi hat is done by making the “t” sound as if you were saying
“bat” or “sat.”
– Remove the vocalization and focus on strengthening the consonant
sound of “t”
– Follow through with an “s” sound to create an “Open Hi-Hat” effect
