Our first battle

EMERGENCE marks the beginning of a new chapter, introducing a tradition of battles exclusively for the Singapore Beatbox Scene.

This bracket-based battle format aims to foster healthy competition and inspire the community to consistently strive for excellence. By organizing such events, we aim to create opportunities for beatboxers to earn titles that reflect their dedication and passion.

The first major battle, hosted by 555beatbox, took place on 24th September 2022.

EMERGENCE symbolizes new beginnings, representing the birth of our community and its events. With the support of Mitsu Sushi Bar and Pastaplay, EMERGENCE has become a platform for many esteemed Singaporean beatbox artists. The Singapore beatbox community is young but brimming with potential and ready to grow.

EMERGENCE is the first part of a trilogy of events: Emergence, Escapism, and Ascension. Together, they embody the core values of what 555 represents. If you’re wondering about the significance of “555,” it’s a nod to the 5th letter of the alphabet repeated three times (E-E-E). This symbolizes the spirit of our crew—everyone, together, pushing each other forward, building something bigger than just music.

This marked one of his first few performances for the beatbox community, and he did not disappoint. His performance was a testament to the creativity and skill thriving within the community.

The event also featured a powerful solo showcase by HandFX, the founder of 555beatbox, who introduced the art of beatboxing to the audience. Through his performance, HandFX demonstrated the vast potential of beatboxing, captivating the crowd with his skill and creativity. His showcase served as both an introduction and an inspiration, highlighting what is possible within the realm of beatbox artistry.

The judging panel for EMERGENCE featured an esteemed lineup of respected figures in the beatbox community. First, we had PayByNats, founder of Fire=Bridge Studios and the organizer of the massive Lion City Championships in 2017. Next was The Fool, a highly regarded figure in the Singapore beatbox community and the Head of Education at Swissbeatbox. Lastly, KK, the SG AcaChamp Beatbox Champion, brought his expertise to the panel, known for his distinctive and musical beatboxing style. Together, this stellar panel ensured fair and insightful judging, adding immense credibility to the event.
